Today’s New Moon in… Aries?
Before we get into Taurus season, we have one last surprise from Aries — a second new moon.
New moons are always associated with the astrological season they occur in. For example, any new moon that falls during Aries season (March 20 to April 19) is a new moon in Aries.
Here’s where the surprise comes in. There are two new moons in Aries this year. One that occurred on March 21, and one that occurs today, April 19. Today’s new moon coincides with a solar eclipse, which means that there’s a lot of energies happening right now.
Two new moons in one sign is rare, and it means we get a doubling down of that Aries energy combined with the restful reflection of the new moon. It also means the Taurus new moon won’t happen until the end of Taurus’ astrological reign, which switches up the energies of how we interact with this season. It provides a bridge — setting intentions in one season, and using the energy of the next to propel them into action.
So, in short — be kind to yourself this week (and all weeks). There’s a lot happening in the sky, and it’s a time of transition. Consider how you can use that as you move forward.
Taurus is the middle astrological sign in our trio of spring signs, which means it’s time to continue holding steady with our spring ideas, goals, and intention, and to begin putting action behind them.
In this newsletter, we’ll dive into what this season means, providing context as a tool for reflection. My goal with these zodiac season newsletters is to enable goal and intention setting that works in concert with the season, and not against it.
Aries szn wrap up: an action-packed month
Spring officially sprung in Aries season. With warmer weather, blooming plant life, and lengthened daylight, it felt like a rush of energy. The first fire sign of the year, this season lit a match of excitement and heightened action. For myself, I felt like I wanted to do *allthethings* all at once, which lead to nursing some burnout.
Here in Taurus season, we stabilize that action with a more grounded feeling, rooting down for the long haul before charging forward.
Taurus Fast Facts
Dates: April 20 - May 20
Element: Earth. Earth signs are realistic, grounded, and cautious. They ask how you can be more practical, and how you can set down roots.
Modality: Fixed. Fixed signs occur in the middle of a season (in this case, winter), and stabilize or regulate action.
As the only fixed Earth sign, Taurus asks us to anchor the energy we have already cultivated during a busy Aries season. What’s realistic to take with us and sustain over the long term? What do we want to take with us?
Taurus Moon Cycles
Like I mentioned above, Taurus season officially kicks off tomorrow, April 20. But today, April 19, holds the second new moon in Aries of the season. This means that firey Aries energy is more persistent in our goal and intention setting for the season ahead; it’s persistent and sets the tone.
So, in considering our Taurus moon cycles, it felt incomplete to not include this Aries new moon.
New moon in Aries — Wednesday, April 19
Slow and reflective new moon energy + firey and energetic Aries energy = action oriented goal and intention setting
Full moon in Scorpio — Friday, May 5
Actionable full moon energy + mysterious and intense Scorpio = unveiling and polishing the parts of your inner self you’ve been scared to take action on until now
New moon in Taurus — Friday, May 19
Slow and reflective new moon energy + resourceful and productive Taurus energy = realistic, mindful goal and intention setting
This is a really nice series of events, destined to be powerful and revealing. Buckle up, y’all, and let’s go soul searching.

What are the Taurus ✨vibes?✨ What should I expect?
Taurus season is a chance to explore what makes sense for the rest of your spring. What’s realistic bring forward with you, and what will you choose to leave behind?
Taurus is realistic and practical, rooted in earthiness. It’s also one of the most sensual signs of the zodiac; Taurus is a romantic in all of their relationships — with friends, lovers, and themselves. Taurus loves the finer things in life, and wants to experience all the niceties that life has to offer. They are luxurious and opulent, but still sensible. All of these things can exist together.
It’s a time to create practical and beautiful things; perhaps the work you didn’t have the time or energy to create during a hectic Aries season. This could be cultivating stunning spaces in your home; taking the time to craft a dish that isn’t just delicious, but stunning; or adding extra care to your outfit going out to dinner this weekend. What is the extra step you can take to make it beautiful?
The moodboard I’ve put together for this season takes this into account. It combines lush textures with metallics and foils; the beauty of nature with the luxe finishings of interior design. Opposites can work together to make something beautiful and new.
What else I’m up to:
Reading: When We Lost Our Heads, Heather O’Neill (not finished yet, but cannot recommend this book enough!)
Watching: Yellowjackets, Succession, Top Chef, lotssss of NBA playoffs
Other creative fun: Weight training (cleared by my PT, woo!), more Procreate doodling, Ennegram class planning
What are you up to? Would love to hear in the comments!
