Welcome to Aquarius season! Well, Aquarius season started nearly two weeks ago. Life happened, and this newsletter kept getting pushed by the wayside. But hey, we’re here! Let’s dive in.
Marking the middle third of winter (we’re getting there, folks), Aquarius season ushers in gloomy days but shorter nights, signaling a ramp up in energy.
In this newsletter, we’ll dive into what this season means, providing context as a tool for reflection. My goal with these zodiac season newsletters is to enable goal and intention setting that works in concert with the season, and not against it.
Capricorn szn wrap up: wtf was that?
I don’t know about y’all, but wtf summed up a lot of my Capricorn season, beginning in late December and wrapping up on January 20. The end of 2022 and beginning of 2023 felt wild.
Coexisting with Mercury retrograde, when energy feels more tense and “off,” this Capricorn season seemed to combine Cap’s realistic nature with stress. For myself, that meant several travel snafus, stressful work responsibilities, and multiple plumbing issues at home (gotta love homeownership!).
But it also meant significant progress on setting the stage for the year and quarter to come, both personally and professionally. It meant making real, tactical on smaller, more realistic goals.
For you, I hope that Capricorn season brought some real, tactile progress, no matter how wtf it felt. Now, let’s be present and dive into the season at hand.
Aquarius Fast Facts
Dates: January 20 to February 18
Element: Air. Air signs are curious, communicative, and cerebral. They ask what will help you voice your ideas, and how to think big.
Modality: Fixed sign. Fixed signs occur in the middle of a season (in this case, winter), and stabilize or regulate action.
As the fixed air sign, Aquarius asks us to think bigger around the foundation we built in Capricorn season. Aquarius is unconventional and independent, and its energy works to break the mold. While Capricorn asked us to be realistic (which is a great way to begin the year), Aquarius encourages us to breathe loftier life into our ideas.
What are the Aquarius ✨vibes?✨ What should I expect?
Since we are already a bit into this season, you may already be experiencing Aquarius’ progressive thought process. If you felt like your New Year’s goals were already feeling stale, this is the opportunity to shake them up. This season should feel invigorating and curious, but still stabilizing.
Aquarius takes the ideas we dreamed up during Capricorn season, and presses them into action. It’s the yin to Capricorn’s yang, lifting up realistic ideas and inserting a dreamy quality to goals that may have been only pragmatic. It’s rounding out those goals before we fully put them into practice.
This is a season to spread word of what we are creating to others, and to potentially create something even greater than we dreamed. This being said, Aquarius is still part of our winter season triad. It’s the quietest of all the air signs; communication and creation may still be quiet, and could even be within yourself. It’s time for a slow creation, progressing forward with care.
The moodboard I’ve put together for this season takes this into account. It combines dreamy, ethereal qualities with forward motion, creating a dreamland rife with progressivism and independence.
What should I create this season?
In alignment with our creativity theme, I want to offer ideas for creation during this season — what aligns with the overall energy of Aquarius, so that creating feels as full of ease as possible.
Aquarius is an interesting nut to crack. Air signs generally signal a shout-from-the-rooftop, social-AF type of vibe. As a winter and fixed sign, Aquarius also wants to lay low, quietly evolving. Aquarius embraces this dichotomy, taking action on the foundation laid during Capricorn season with creative solutions and quiet communication.
Here’s some ideas of what Aquarius will be beneficial for:
Getting creative on the realistic goals set during Capricorn season:
Taking actions on plans
Expanding the scope of goals and giving them a loftier purpose
Reconciling the goals of a creative project
Creating work
Talking about a creative project — whether through written word, speaking about the project, or speaking about it with yourself
Aquarius Card Pull
Looking for added inspiration in the season ahead? Choose one of these cards below. (Cards are from Gabby Bernstein’s the Universe Has Your Back deck).
Which card feels intuitively yours? Right or left?
Left card: I find a deeper meaning and personal growth amid the discomfort.
Aquarius season can be hard. There’s some whiplash from the markedly different Capricorn season. And that whiplash is yours to embrace and find growth in. This isn’t meant to be toxic positivity; it’s important to process through first, but there is always something to be learned.
Right card: The moment I embrace my peace with and surrender to the outcome is the moment that the universe can truly get to work.
Whew, that’s a heavy one, and connected to our first card. By working with the zodiac seasons, we are submitting to something larger than ourselves, something that can guide our energies and help us find a universal thread we can all hold onto. By surrendering to this and listening to the universe, there’s something magical we can be a part of ✨ It’s sitting there, waiting for you.
