Reflections on Pisces Season
One of the ways I gather inspiration for these newsletters are from two card decks — The Astrology Deck and Moonology, both of which I recommend to anyone who wants to learn more about our lunar and sun cycles.
During each monthly zodiac and lunar season, I prop the associated cards up on my desk. During this Pisces season, my cat continually flopped all over my desk, knocking over my cards. Eventually, I gave up, shoving them into a drawer until I grabbed them today to remind myself of what had passed.
The element that popped out to me was a reminder from this month’s Full Moon in Virgo — a reminder that “you are good enough.” In last month’s newsletter, I noted that Pisces season is transformative and distilling, but emotional and tumultuous.
That reminder that I am (and you are) good enough was something I didn’t listen to much this month. It was indeed an emotional one — and a season where I was far more reactive than proactive. As we officially reach the end of winter and the beginning of spring — the closing of a book on the season we had — the more I realize I didn’t do.
That being said, I did do plenty. But very little of it was what I’d planned for this season, or was what I set out to be my priority. But what can I say, life happens. Personally, we had both house and car troubles rear their ugly heads, plus some real imposter syndrome types of feelings that held me back from pushing my work into the world. Some that were predictable, and some that were not. But neither things that were in my control, or that I would have chosen for myself.
So, as we go into this new season, I’ll add a new section here to ask: how do we make it real? We can create supportive structure to achieve those big goals, whether they’re a tactical creative achievement, or a feeling. Because sometimes something expected comes up. And that doesn’t mean that we should stop from dreaming, but the smaller steps can help us break it down if our goal needs to last a little longer, or to feel more overwhelming.
After that long AF intro, let’s get into what’s coming up.
Aries Fast Facts
Dates: March 20 — April 20
Element: Fire. Fire signs are expressive, intuitive, and opinionated. They ask how you can follow your intuition and what you're excited about.
As the first fire sign of the year, it feels fitting that spring gives us a kick toward taking action after a season of mulling and planning.
Modality: Cardinal sign, which makes the beginning of a season and the start of something new.
What are the Aries ✨vibes?✨ What should I expect?
As the cardinal fire sign, Aries screams “action!” Aries’ animal is the is a ram, and is represented by Mars, the Roman god of war. The spirit is headstrong. I always think of the familiar proverb around spring, that says “in like a lion and out like a lamb.” Although not the right animal for Aries, that sums up its spirit — it is awesome and amazing, but at times off-putting and brash. This is a love it or hate it season that presses action forward.
TLDR, Aries can be a lot. But it also offers us something we haven’t seen a lot of this calendar year — action. The seasons we’ve experienced thus far have been rooted in earth, air, and water — which suggest we get realistic, think big, and check in with our emotions. We may be feeling a bit raw after crossing through these sensitive and intimate seasons, but now it’s time to put that out in the world. The ice thaws and the world gets brighter outside, which mirrors what’s happening within us. Time to get moving and pick up the energy.
Aries Moon Cycles
New Moon in Aries on Tuesday, March 21 brings the slow, reflective energy of the new moon to assertive and impulsive Aries. This gives us the unique opportunity to be decisive on our reflections, getting super clear on what we aim to leave behind, and what we’re bringing with us to start fresh with this season.
Full Moon in Libra on Thursday, April 6 pairs the actionable full moon with harmonious and balanced Libra. As energy ramps us this season, we can keep a balanced feel at the heart of all of the action-taking, being sure to care for ourselves from all angles. But his could lead to some indecisiveness — to be sure to pair this with the overall Aries energy for the season.
Aries Moodboard
I create a moodboard for every season because I love creating something tangible out of feelings and vibe of the atmosphere. I’m also a visual person, and there’s a bridge to ideas and making something real.
This moodboard is masculine, stark, and tough without losing elegance. There’s a quiet and simple confidence to it, that helps you understand that Aries knows exactly what step is next.
What should I create this season?
In alignment with our creativity theme, I want to offer ideas for creation during this season — what aligns with the overall energy of Aries, so that creating feels as full of ease as possible.
Aries asks us to start laying the groundwork for action. The last three zodiac seasons — which represented winter as a whole — were for reflecting, considering what we’re ready to leave behind. Now, we’re entering spring — a time to let those ideas break through to the surface.
Aries is here to let those seeds erupt and pop through the dirt to meet the air. Some might stop right there, not adapt well to the new environment. But others will latch on and flourish.
It’s not the time to force things if they’re not working, or hold on too closely to those elements that are ready to be let go. Aries is about action, yes — but sometimes we’ve already done the work, and we need to let nature take its course.
How can I make it real?
Letting thing naturally break through sounds nice and poetic, yeah? But what does that actually look like over the next four (ish) weeks of Aries season? Let’s break it down by week; note this is not meant to be prescriptive. You can use just some of these weeks, bypass it, or hold onto this for another month.
Week 1: Chart exactly what your focus is for this month. What goal or intention? Try to just focus on one (or perhaps two, if they’re small) so you can make real progress. What would this goal intention look like at the end of this month in an ideal state?
Week 2: What do the micro steps of this look like? How can you actually get it across the finish line? Will it take more than this month; this this a larger, seasonal goal?
Week 3: Take the action. Talk to the people, write the thing. At this point, you might realize that part of your goals are external and beyond your control (selling stuff is a great example of this). Get realistic on what you can do, and don’t get too caught up in what’s beyond your control.
Week 4: Wrap it up. If you haven’t achieved what you set out to do, how can you get this to a good stopping point, and bring it into the time ahead?
