Oh folks, it’s here. It’s Pisces season. The most love/hate of the astrological seasons for me. It’s transformative and distilling, but emotional and tumultuous as heck. Are you excited yet?
Pisces is the final astrological sign in our trio of winter signs, which means it’s time to wrap things up and start the movement toward spring. That means tidying up and getting rid of stuff, which means getting honest with ourselves and kicking any of our own bullsh*t to the curb if it’s no longer working for us.
In this newsletter, we’ll dive into what this season means, providing context as a tool for reflection. My goal with these zodiac season newsletters is to enable goal and intention setting that works in concert with the season, and not against it.
Aquarius szn wrap up: airing of the grievances
Man oh man, y’all. Aquarius season was quite the trip. A season that encourages loftier thinking and open communication, it was personally rife with rethinking big ideas, adjusting goals, and some tough conflict and communication. I tore apart goals that I’ve had for awhile and reconstructed them, which was a difficult but necessary task.
Aquarius season also feels like a strange time in nature. It’s still chilly and dark outside, but we are starting to feel over it and ready for something new. It feels like one big case of cabin fever. But as with everything cyclical, nothing lasts forever.
Aquarius Fast Facts
Dates: February 18 — March 20
Element: Water. Water signs are calm, feeling, and nurturing. They ask what will help your ideas flow, and what feels the most imaginative.
Modality: Mutable sign. Mutable signs mark the end of a season (winter, in this case), and let go of the season at hand and lay the groundwork for the next season.
As the mutable water sign, Pisces asks us to observe what’s happening around us and consider the emotional connections we have made during winter. Tying a thread through realistic Capricorn season and lofty Aquarius, what are the takeaways that feel the most resonant and right?
Pisces Moon Cycles
New Moon in Pisces on Monday, February 20 brings the slow, reflective energy of the new moon to sensitive and observant Pisces. Honestly, this feels like a sad music + emotional bath type of new moon. Feel the feelings you are feeling, and meditate on what comes next. Take care of yourself, however you need it.
Full Moon in Virgo on Tuesday, March 7 pairs the actionable full moon with perfectionist, analytical Virgo. It can be easy to hard on yourself during this full moon; asking yourself “is the action I’m taking good enough? Is it enough, in general?” It’s another opportunity to be kind to yourself; knowing that whatever you’re able to do is progress and enough.
What are the Pisces ✨vibes?✨ What should I expect?
Pisces season is a final chance to experience the slowness of winter before spring ramps up. What are you going to intentionally bring forward with you, and what will you choose to leave behind?
With these types of prompts, it may sound like a lot of mind mulling is going to occur during Pisces. But this season isn’t especially cerebral; it’s moreso about paying attention to your intuition and emotionality. What is feeling right to you?
Pisces is calm and observant. It’s a great time to take a step back and look at your winter from an objective point of view, and evaluate if the direction things are heading in seems correct or not with what you want long term. Begin shedding the old stories and goals that may no longer fit, and see how that feels.
The moodboard I’ve put together for this season takes this into account. It combines realism with ethereal qualities, all rooted in water and aesthetic beauty. The vibes are calm and a bit detached, ready for you to infuse your meaning into them.
What should I create this season?
In alignment with our creativity theme, I want to offer ideas for creation during this season — what aligns with the overall energy of Pisces, so that creating feels as full of ease as possible.
As a mutable sign, Pisces loves to wrap things up. It’s also intuitive and emotional; together, this encourages tasks that are easily completable and also feel good. Here’s some ideas of what Pisces will be beneficial for:
Journaling
Intuitive art
Moodboarding and vision boards
Dancing, yoga, and other gentle and intuitive movement
Pottery and clay sculpting
Wrapping up of any big projects
Pisces Card Pull
Looking for added inspiration in the season ahead? Choose one of these cards below. (Cards are from Worthwhile Paper Co.’s Inquire Within deck).
Which card feels intuitively yours? Right or left?
Left card: Yes you can.
Yep, you can do that thing that you’re setting your mind to. Whether it feels hard, or it feels like it’s not a priority, or you have too many things on your plate — you can do the tough thing you need to do. You can let something go, you can reprioritize. I believe in you. And I hope you cultivate that belief too this season.
Right card: Finding balance.
Shiii — balance is hard. We are constantly juggling so much, but Pisces asks us to simply. It asks us to let things go, and keep only what is feeling good. Sometimes there’s things that don’t feel good that you still have to do (taxes, for example — blech). But, is there anything you’re holding onto that isn’t a must-do? What would balance look like if you let that go?
